A game you never stop playing · A life of meaning

A card comes up.
Then you talk.

Say what you’re here for. A card arrives from the future, a deck of 269. What happens next is pure synchronicity.

How it plays

Three beats, and the third one
is the whole point.

  1. 1

    Declare

Say what you are here for. It is written down before any card is drawn, timestamped, sealed, unchangeable. What comes next answers something you actually meant.

  2. 2

    Draw

A card arrives from the future, a deck of 269. Nothing chooses it. Not us, not an algorithm reading your mood. It is genuinely random and it is genuinely yours.

  3. 3

    Speak

Say what comes up. Type it or say it out loud. Then place the card on the board, and the arrangement becomes the story.

The deck

269 cards. Three kinds.
None of them tell you what to do.

Lifecircles are places and moments. Challenges are the hard thing, named. Relates are how you reach someone.

They carry their own misprints. A card that reads Sychronicity, a West portal that says move South. We kept every one. They are forty-five years old and they are first edition.

Who made this

Jai Hudes has been building
this game for forty-five years.

X the GAME™ began in 1980 and never stopped. Cards, boards, a sponsorship programme that let people put their own contribution into the deck, and a philosophy about play that arrived decades before anyone was ready for it.

Jai built the game. Storylivingry Studio built a new place to play it. Every card here is his, and the two cards signed Jai Hudes and Shanti Hudes have been in the deck all along.

It’s more than a game.
It’s storyliving.

The Agreements

Eight things you agree to
before you play.

Not terms of service. The actual rules of the room, written by Jai Hudes, unchanged and unabridged. You read them once and pass through the light at the centre of the board.

Say what you’re here for.
